Commentary is running a-muck

So blog yeah I've been lame and haven't blogged in a week but that's truly because I've been working on my scripts for class. I'm going to post one up here tonight because I figured it would be good. My brother scored a hat trick in his soccer game last night and that was his first one of the season so he was very happy with himself. One more win for his team and they move on to States and hopefully with next three games that can happen. So on to the fun stuff.

Books:
I read a new book today called Shrug and it was pretty good. It was about a 12 year old girl dealing with alcholism in her family as well as an abstentee dad plus dealing with the fact that she's going through changes. She's finally figured out that she's madly in love with her best friend Mark but he just doesn't see it. Also she deals with moving from a small elementry school where people had to be friends to a junior high where cliques are being to rule. It was a short book but a good kill for the 2 hours I had free.

Movies:
This weekend I rented "We are Marshall" which is a fantastic sports movie based on a true story. I think it's my #3 sports movie of all time behind Miracle and Hoosiers. It made me cry and laugh and Matthew McConaughey was AMAZING although he does talk out of the side of his mouth the entire movie. I told my friend this when I saw it in the theater and he was really annoyed the rest of the movie. So that was your warning about that. The other movie I watched this week was "House Arrest" which is one of my all time favorite cheesy when I was a kid movie's where a Brother and sister team lock their parents in their basement so they can work out their problems and not get divorced. Needless to say hilarity ensuses. It is one of those early 90's movies that warms my heart.

TV: I"m way to tired to blog about tv but good this week was Brothers&Sister, How I met your mother (GO blah blah) and Heroes everything i watched was just so-so

I almost forgot that I said I'd post a script on here so I'm doing that right now :
“Friendship”
INT: BACKSTAGE. AFTERNOON.
A GIRL named RACHEL enters a small ROOM backstage of the RED TAYLOR THEATER. NOISES from AUDIO EQUIPMENT for a concert can be heard. Various crew and staff pushing around SPEAKERS and LIGHTS past the ROOM. RACHEL sits at a DESK with a WALKIE-TALKIE RADIO crackling at her hip. She wears a Relient K concert T-shirt, a pair of tattered jeans, and Kelly green converses. STEVEN, dressed in a Nike t-shirt and basketball shorts, enters the room quietly and scares RACHEL by touching her on the back.
RACHEL
(annoyed)
I hate it when you do that!
STEVEN
I know but seriously we need to talk.
RACHEL
Right now? I have a band coming in at three, Lost Prophets sound checking at four, ushers and security people at six, doors at seven, show at 8.
(pause for breath)
Can’t we talk tomorrow when I actually have time?
STEVEN
(serious tone)
No this is serious and it needs to be settled right now.
RACHEL
Okay, okay.
STEVE
So Jess thinks…
RACHEL
(cutting him off)
Why do I care what Jess thinks again? She’s a witch.
STEVEN
(quickly)
She doesn’t want me talking to you anymore.
STEVEN waits in fear of RACHEL’s reaction.
RACHEL
(Upset)
AGAIN!! You are letting her control your whole world. I mean she’s pretty much asking you to break up with your best friend. What is that? Are you going through with this demand?
STEVEN
Well...
RACHEL jumps up standing in front of STEVEN’s face.
RACHEL
(angry)
You are doing this again? You always choose her over your friends. You always believe her over your friends. You know, six months ago I was okay with not being your friend. Six months ago I was done with you ... and do you know what you did?
STEVEN
Uh... I called you?
RACHEL
That’s right you called ME and begged me to be your friend that you couldn’t bear to lose seven years of friendship
STEVEN
(trying to be understanding)
I know and I truly meant that but...
RACHEL
(cutting him off)
You let some girl who will have sex with you control every aspect of your life. Look yet again you drop me because of her and what she thinks. The sad part is I’m not really even mad at you, I’m mad at myself for believing that you would or could change. I’m mad that I hoped deep down you could be a real friend.
STEVEN
(apologetic)
I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt or upset you.
RACHEL
It doesn’t matter what you meant to do it matters what you did. Truthfully you just need to leave right now.
STEVEN
But I wanted to talk about this more.
RACHEL
(loudly)
But you’re not allowed to! JUST GO!
STEVEN walks out the DOOR! RACHEL slumps to the FLOOR with her head in her lap, crying uncontrollably. STATIC comes over the WALKIE-TALKIE. A VOICE is heard over the RADIO.
CLAUDIA
(over the radio)
Rachel, where are you?
RACHEL
(over the radio)
I’m in the back work room.
Claudia, wearing jeans and a concert crew shirt, enters the ROOM.
CLAUDIA
(worried)
What’s wrong?
RACHEL
It’s Steven; he can’t talk to me anymore.
CLAUDIA
What? Again?
RACHEL
(annoyed)
Oh yes, girlfriend from Hell strikes again. I can’t believe I let myself get into this situation again.
CLAUDIA
I know this sucks but Slick Willie just arrived and their band manager wants to meet with you.
RACHEL
Okay bring him in.
CLAUDIA leaves to get the BAND MANAGER. RACHEL wipes her faces with a PAPER TOWEL and tries to fix her HAIR. CLAUDIA reenters with an older looking man wearing a jean jacket and jeans which are torn. He also wears a Ramones t-shirt and sunglasses.
CLAUDIA
Hey Rachel, this is Quake and he is wondering who is running the sound board tonight.
RACHEL is still visibly upset with what has just happened with STEVEN.
RACHEL
Hi. Our sound technician for tonight is Fred the pirate, so he’ll being doing sound unless you all brought someone.
QUAKE
(ignoring her previous statement)
What the hell is wrong with you? Did someone die?
RACHEL
(hesitantly)
No… my friend, he isn’t my friend anymore.
QUAKE
Oh did he give you herpes?
RACHEL
Well no but he was a pain in my ass.
QUAKE
Believe me I’ve been through my share of bands in my lifetime and breaking up is usually the smartest thing to do.
RACHEL
(with sarcasm)
Thank you for your advice, wise old sage.
CLAUDIA
You know Rachel, he’s right. Steven is so not worth anything.
RACHEL
I know but to waste almost eight years of your life on a friendship that just won’t work is hard. I guess I just feel like I failed.
QUAKE
I really don’t think he’s a winner. Plus he doesn’t hang out with rock stars all the time so he must be lame.
RACHEL
Yeah you’re right. Let’s get to work I’ll deal with the rest of this after a few beers.
Please feel free to comment
